Our Invercargill Campus is small and friendly and delivers a range of teacher education programmes in Early Childhood, Primary and Primary Bicultural Education.

The role/Te mahi

Responsibilities of the role include:

  • Supporting teaching in the strands of the Bachelor of Teaching, Primary and Primary Bicultural, and supervise BTchg students on professional experience. This includes preparation, assessment, teaching and paper administration duties, under the supervision of the course coordinators and Academic Programme Coordinator Invercargill Campus.
  • Carrying out administration responsibilities.
  • Contributing to campus whanaungatanga, and the department’s academic goals by applying and sharing expert knowledge in the professional discipline of education.

Skills and experience/Kā pūkeka me kā wheako

To be successful in this key role, you will have:

  • Experience and expertise in teaching te reo me nga tikanga Māori.
  • A relevant professional qualification.
  • Appropriate professional experience in a primary school or tertiary setting.
  • Evidence of an ability to work well with students and staff from differing academic and cultural backgrounds and at all levels of the institution.
  • A commitment to the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi and to equal opportunity.
  • Support for the learning needs of Māori and Pasifika students.

This is a permanent, part-time (0.25 FTE) position available from 1 February 2022.
