We are looking for 2 culturally responsive, reflective and collaborative kaiako to join our kura in 2022, working in a te reo Māori bi-lingual class as a part of a dedicated and passionate team.

We are looking for someone who will:

  • Be able to work collaboratively across the school and demonstrate our KORAU values through words and actions
  • Be proficient in te reo Māori me ōna tikanga
  • Have had some experience teaching in a bilingual classroom
  • Have a proven track record of developing successful learning programmes
  • Be prepared to lead or contribute to kapa haka
  • Be prepared to fully contribute to the success and strength of the team and our staff as a whole.

Our school has a diverse ethnic makeup including 43% of our students identifying as Māori and 20% identifying as Pasifika. Experience, knowledge and understanding of working with diverse ethnic groups is a requirement for our staff.

At our school we use CHOICE Theory and PB4L strategies to help the children learn to manage themselves and build relationships with others around them. Our school KORAU values are used throughout the entire school by staff and students alike.

We are a collaborative staff who enjoy working together and providing stimulating and engaging learning experiences for the children. This includes a strong focus on science and the environment.

If you are open to working collaboratively, able to build trusting relationships, set up consistent class routines and support students to succeed to the best of their potential, all within a bi-lingual setting, we would love to hear from you. The class year level may be negotiated.

Our major school wide PLD focus is based around DMIC and structured literacy. We will also be involved in work being undertaken by the Taita/Stokes Valley Kahui Ako we are part of.

Applicants must be NZ registered teachers
