We are looking for an experienced, fully registered teacher to join our team at Te Au rere a te Tonga Youth residence in Palmerston North. Both primary and secondary trained teachers are encouraged to apply.

The appointed applicant will have had successful experience engaging youth in education and be able to work within a strong, dynamic team. A strong commitment to the long-term development of the Youth Justice education programme will be evident.

The ability to plan and teach units of work across a variety of curriculum areas, as well as supporting students to express their cultural identity, is important. Being agile and adapting the curriculum to cater for individual needs is a key aspect of the work. Experience creating programmes that focus on skills for living independently, vocational training and becoming work ready is also desirable.

Our team focus is on teaching and learning, as well as supporting student transition. There is very little need for extracurricular or lunchtime duties.

We encourage interested teachers to arrange a visit to the site as this is a unique and challenging learning environment.
