This exciting opportunity has come about at our awesome school located in the heart of Te Awamutu for an amazing leader to join our team with a term 1, 2022 start. We have a new tumuaki, friendly staff and awesome tamariki and whānau who are supportive and passionate about Pekerau.  

We are made up of just over 50% NZ Māori, 40% NZ European and 10% other ethnicities and are proud to celebrate our identity. We are working towards our classes teaching at Level 4 in te reo and are passionate about our journey in structured literacy and providing pathways for learning.

A little about the role:

  • This is largely a non-teaching role with some release cover as required - up to 2 days per week, dependent on staffing and roll number 
  • You will be a leader of learning - with a job description that will be co-constructed 
  • There will be opportunities for professional development that will support your leadership pathway.

The successful applicant will:

  • Be a dynamic, experienced, effective leader who is student-centred and has proven ability to lead school wide professional development
  • Be an excellent communicator with proven ability to inspire, encourage and support tamariki and staff to grow and actively promote a positive school culture
  • Be open, approachable, reflective and consultative with staff, building and sustaining high trust relationships with all stakeholders
  • Demonstrate our Pekerau STAR values within a collaborative approach to decision making, leading with pono and manaakitanga
  • Demonstrate high level of competence, knowledge and understanding of, and experience in; curriculum, assessment, evaluation and review
  • Be an effective treaty partner and focused on raising achievement for Māori as Māori in a culturally responsive way
  • Display high level of professionalism and ability to grow others through coaching and mentoring within a professional community.
