We have an exciting opportunity for a registered kaiako to join our community whānau on a fixed-term to cover parental leave.

Are you ready to begin or take the next step in your career? Are you passionate about learning and ready to grow with the needs of our tamariki?  We are looking for a qualified ECE teacher, either with experience or newly qualified, to join our small, experienced team.

Our centre is a non-profit parent and teacher co-operative in Thorndon. Our environment is warm, caring, and creates a home-away-from-home. We have the pleasure of welcoming 29 tamariki per day from 6 months to 6 years and are looking for a new team member to join us from November to July 2022 in our O2 space. Flexible start date available.

Our ideal candidate must have a commitment to lifelong learning, have an approachable 'can-do' attitude, possess strong interpersonal communication and relationship building skills and is reliable and enthusiastic.

Our ideal candidate requires the following criteria:

  • A Bachelor of Teaching (ECE) or Dip Tch Level 7 (ECE) or equivalent
  • Holds current teacher certification
  • Able to demonstrate current knowledge of curriculum (Te Whāriki), pedagogy and assessment 
  • An understanding of RIE® philosophy
  • Demonstrates enthusiasm for tamariki learning 
  • Contributes to the development of a reflective professional culture
  • Has knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
