Y7–8 teacher (LTR 2022).

We’re on the hunt for a passionate educator to join our middle school team as a Y7–8 Teacher. Reporting to the deputy headmaster - middle school, this role is based in the intermediate department of our central Auckland College Campus, located in Newmarket.

Established by the Christian Brothers, St Peter’s College has a proud history, offering a Catholic education to boys from Y7 to Y13 since 1939. We offer a comprehensive, holistic education that draws on our traditional values. As part of a vibrant and diverse community, our staff and students are involved in the various experiences we offer in music, sport, culture and drama.

St Peter’s College prides itself in building outstanding men, and our middle school team are pivotal in establishing the foundations necessary for our boys to succeed in this journey.

What you’ll be responsible for:

  • Leading classroom learning in literacy, numeracy and social sciences
  • Maintaining student assessment data
  • Building strong pastoral relationships with students and their families.

What you’ll bring to the role?

  • Curriculum knowledge in numeracy and literacy
  • Excellent classroom management skills
  • A hard-working, organised work ethic
  • The ability to work as part of a team
  • An understanding of, and interest in how boys learn
  • A willingness to participate in the co-curricular life of the college.

In return, you can expect to be part of a fun, vibrant and supportive environment with a strong emphasis on community and culture. Opportunities exist to develop wider curriculum knowledge and leadership skills. Our timetable allows for weekly classroom release time for planning and development. You also will have the chance to work with students from across the college in varying capacities.

If this sounds like a role and environment that you would like to be a part of, then please submit your application.
