Due to the recent retirement of a long standing staff member, Whakatane Intermediate School (U6, Decile 4) is looking to appoint a permanent, full-time deputy principal to begin in term 1, 2022.
This is a rare and exciting opportunity for a passionate and committed educator to join a senior leadership team of 3. Whakatane Intermediate is a PB4L school, identifies with CRRP and it’s principles, runs Y7 and 8 composite classes and is proud of its bi-cultural environment.
In general we are looking for an energetic, innovative and self motivated educational leader who is passionate about the unique nature of the modern emerging adolescent. An indepth curriculum experience & knowledge, knowledge of using digital devices for education and a commitment to leading pedagogy & professional learning are considered essential for the successful applicant.
Specifically this role has oversight over teaching and learning, curriculum and assessment, as well as a role with student welfare. Knowledge of the full primary curriculum, learning progressions and strengths in numeracy are an advantage.
Both our deputy principals play a crucial role in embedding our mission statement and core values throughout the school. They have a strong voice in the development of educational pedagogy and practice within the school. They need to have a strong desire to grow their leadership, a focus on improving student achievement and be at the forefront of growing best practice within the school.
The successful applicant must be a critical thinker, have a collaborative approach, the ability to build strong relationships with all stakeholders & whanau, belief in being a learner themselves and contribute to a friendly and caring staffroom culture. A commitment in contributing to the school’s strong co-curricular programme would also be of interest.
