Tamariki School is looking for an enthusiastic, committed teacher to support the growth of our younger children. As a designated special character school, Tamariki offers a child-centred environment. We require a teacher who is comfortable working in an environment where the children have a high level of agency. As a democratic school, children are very involved in their own learning, and in managing the environment and resources.
Central to our processes at Tamariki is the meeting system. Anyone can call a whole school meeting at any time, and small meetings are chaired by children, ensuring everyone in the school has a voice. The meeting system assists children to learn to manage conflict resolution. Your job as a teacher will be to support children’s social and emotional growth, as well as their academic growth, in line with our special character. This means a dynamic and flexible working environment where the holistic growth of children is prioritised. Please see the attached job description or our website for further information about our special character school.
Beginning and experienced teachers are welcome, as are applications from ECE-trained and playcentre-trained practitioners. Please state if you have recent play-based or early childhood experience. The position ideally begins at the start of term 4 or earlier.
