With the retirement of our long serving principal at the end of this year, a unique opportunity awaits a dynamic and passionate principal/tumuaki to lead our warm, caring school, well known for its confident, articulate students.
We are a Y1–8 state integrated primary school for girls located in Invercargill. Our school is set in beautiful grounds with small class sizes and dedicated teaching staff.
With our vision ‘To educate each girl in a safe, supportive, Christian environment, to be a confident, lifelong learner’, we area school with wonderful traditions, strong values and a warm family spirit.
Our values are the important qualities we try to live by and show in the way we go about our work and in the relationships we have with others in our school.
Through consultation with our parents/whānau, and staff, they have told us our new principal will ideally:
Have strong leadership skills,
Be committed to, and model the St John’s Girls’ School Christian values and special character,
Be passionate about the students’ education, value and support the staff,
Be an empathetic listener, be approachable and visible,
Set high expectations but in a fair and supportive environment,
Be a strong communicator, and be comfortable in interacting with parents/whānau and the wider community,
Have a sound pedagogical knowledge and continue the amazing learning opportunities at St John’s Girls’ School,
Be positive with a sense of humour.
We seek to appoint the new principal to commence at the beginning of term 1, 2022.
