The Catlins Area School has a permanent, full-time, deputy principal position starting at the beginning of 2022. The position will work across all year levels (1–13) in our area school. Be committed to culturally responsive and relational teaching approaches that promote Māori succeeding as Māori, and enhance ākonga mana
Have experience in local curriculum development and the use of pedagogical approaches that improve outcomes for learners
Have experience in school-wide pastoral care that has included positive behaviour for learning (PB4L) and restorative practices
Be committed to professional growth and be able to support the professional growth of other adult learners
Understand the culture and special character of an area school and be excited about the opportunity of being part of our Y1–13 area school learning community.
The Catlins Area School is located in the community-centred town of Owaka, the gateway to The Catlins. Owaka is a twenty-minute drive from Balclutha, and an hour and twenty minutes from Dunedin. A schoolhouse may be available on request.
