A rare opportunity exists to become the foundation principal of a new school being built at Milldale (between Silverdale and Wainui just north of Auckland).
Milldale School is scheduled to be opened for instruction for the 2023 school year. It is planned to start with 18 class spaces and 9.5 FTTE. This will initially be a U4 principal position but in a growing community this could be expected to change.
The principal appointed will commence immediately as a co-opted Establishment Board member to enable them to take part in the process of developing the school’s vision and strategic directions.
The principal will commence as a full-time employee of the board in January 2022. The principal will appoint their leadership team who will become employees from the commencement of term 2. This team will work towards the development of the curriculum, based on the vision and strategic direction developed jointly by the board and the leadership team. The teaching staff will be employed to commence from the beginning of term 4, 2022.
An enrolment zone will be in place for the school and community consultation will occur in late 2021 with further information available in mid-2022.
Of particular note the school site will include a unit for Wairau Valley Specialist School (WVSS) and a resource centre for the Northern Health School. The WVSS unit will comprise 2 satellite classrooms and a number of itinerant teachers. These teachers work in mainstream and specialist schools in the Rodney area and the North Shore supporting students with additional learning needs.
The Northern Health School base will be a resource centre and classroom for teachers and support staff working with students who are too unwell to attend school across the North Shore and Rodney districts.
The Wairau Valley and Northern Health units will be managed from their respective schools.
