Seeking an innovative, inspired centre manager for not-for-profit ECE.

Do you want to be instrumental in leading, developing and inspiring a team of talented teachers? Do you want to have the freedom to focus on developing best practice within a not-for-profit centre which invests in its kaiako?

UELC exists as part of the wider Unitec campus and our centre prides itself on its natural park like surroundings. Our centre consists of 2 distinct learning spaces: Whare Tui - our mainstream learning space and Rakaunui - our bilingual learning space. The teaching practice in Rakaunui is positioned within te Ao Maori and guided by the Maramataka.

These 2 spaces will offer you a new challenge, significant variety and the reward of being part of an innovative and people-focused organisation.

As a passionate and experienced leader, you will have a diverse range of skills which allow you to manage in an ever-evolving environment and be adaptable. You will have a strong “on the floor” presence, providing mentoring and role modelling of exceptional teaching practice to the rest of your team.

The following skills, knowledge and capabilities are preferred:

  • Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to develop, coach and lead a team to deliver exceptional learning opportunities
  • Superb communication skills
  • Initiative, desire and passion for quality practice standards and commitment to the principles of Te Whāriki and Te Tiriti
  • Familiarity with the New Zealand Education Council, ERO, MOE requirements, Licensing Criteria, 2008 Regulations and Code of Ethics
  • A comprehensive understanding of how to maintain and grow occupancy
  • Innovative, resilient, committed, passionate and enthusiastic!

What is in it for you?

  • A competitive salary package. This includes subsidised childcare (if applicable), first aid certification, flu vaccination and financial support to maintain full registration
  • Ongoing professional development and mentoring.

Please note: Applicants for this position should have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa.
