An exciting opportunity has arisen for a capable and experienced counsellor/psychologist to join the friendly team at Columba College.
Columba College is a Presbyterian state integrated composite school with co-educational junior school (Y0–6) and a single sex girls boarding and day-school (Y7–13) based in Highgate, Dunedin. We are currently seeking a full (or part-time) qualified experienced counsellor/Ppychologist who would actively support the wellbeing of students at Columba College. As part of our holistic approach to education we wish to provide an effective counselling service at the college that is both responsive and proactive and that builds positive relationships with students to promote emotional and mental wellbeing and buoyancy. The counsellor’s role is to assist the college achieve optimal outcomes for its students in the areas of learning, behaviour, and emotional wellbeing. To achieve this, the counsellor will employ a range of strategies, including counselling, consultation with staff and parents, and referral to and liaison with outside agencies.
To be successful in this role you will need to be a team player and have:
Previous experience in a similar role (desirable)
A qualification and/or demonstratable experience in counselling
Outstanding organisational and people/relationship skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Membership of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors
