Our board of trustees is seeking an exceptional new tumuaki/principal to lead our school from the start of 2022 (or sooner if possible).
You will have a strong ability to build and maintain relationships, and will be a collaborative, inclusive leader. Your ability to communicate well will be obvious, and your people-leadership skills will be evident. You celebrate success and support kaiako and kaimahi stepping up as leaders in their own right.
Your educational skills and vision will ensure that our curriculum continues to engage and excite our tamariki. We are dedicated to improving outcomes for student groups such as Māori and Pasifika. You will bring cultural understanding and experience that enable us to further this mahi, and celebrate the place of Māori as tangata whenua of Aotearoa.
Johnsonville School (Y1–6) is a welcoming and diverse Wellington school, celebrating tamariki from a wide range of ethnic backgrounds in a caring, child-centred environment. Our school community is engaged and supportive, and we have a spacious and green environment, with construction of a new 7-classroom building soon to commence.
Our school is privileged to include a large number of ESOL students, a dedicated special needs unit (Korowai) as well as mainstream ORS funded students. We value this diversity of learners and seek a tumuaki who is able to support the needs of these tamariki and the kaiako who support them.
This is a wonderful opportunity to lead the school and the community through its next stage of development. If this opportunity sounds like your next step, we would love to hear from you.
The position is currently being filled in an acting capacity, and we would like the permanent appointment to commence as soon as possible. However we are realistic and recognise this may not be possible until term 1, 2022.
