Te Kauwhata College is excited to offer a full-time position as the inaugural teacher of our new Y7 and 8 te reo Māori bilingual unit and as a teacher of te reo at other levels, including NCEA L1-3.
Our successful candidate will be proficient in te reo Māori me ōna tikanga, have an innovative approach to progressing te reo Māori and be willing to support and enhance our schools' vision of embracing and embedding Mātauranga Māori schoolwide. A strong understanding of the NZ Curriculum, ability to teach Y7–8 English and social studies in a bilingual context and the willingness to participate as a member of our highly effective and collegial junior teacher team are required. You will also share as part of an equally effective team, in caring for the hauora of all Māori students.
Te Kauwhata College is a Y7–13 school and member of the Tō Tātou Haerenga Kāhui Ako in the Northern Waikato. We are committed to working with aakonga, manawhenua, whānau, hapuu and other kura in an inclusive, relational manner that enhances the mana of individuals, provides equitable pathways and grows the collective. This is underpinned by our aspiration to increase the numbers of Y9 to Y13 students pursuing te reo Māori.
