Hutt International Boys’ School (HIBS) is a leading Y7–13 state integrated multi-denominational Christian day school for boys in the Wellington region, situated in Trentham, Upper Hutt. We are known for achieving excellence and having equal emphasis on academic outcomes, sporting performance, arts, culture and service to our community. With a focus on building men of character since 1991, HIBS is a young school with excellent modern facilities. We have no international students, and our roll is capped at 650 local boys; we have small class sizes (maximum 24 students per class) and places for enrolment are in demand.
HIBS is a school of special character with a strong code of conduct based on Christian values. The HIBS DNA of honour, integrity, belief and service represent the core values which make up each of our students.
Owing to the retirement of our well respected and long serving principal, HIBS is looking for an exceptional leader, someone who can give effect to the Mātauranga Māori curriculum enhancements, successfully navigate our school through changes to the NCEA programme, prioritise ākonga wellbeing and embody manaakitanga as we welcome new whānau into the HIBS community.
You will play a pivotal role in partnering with the board of trustees to develop and implement a strategic plan that ensures HIBS continues to deliver a supportive and inclusive framework, allowing students to excel. You will also work with the board of proprietors to preserve HIBS’ special character, develop future capital works projects, and to ensure that the physical environment is safe and conducive to learning and teaching.
The HIBS community is strong and inclusive, with considerable involvement from our staff, whānau and ākonga. We are seeking someone who can enhance this strong community ethos and embrace whanaungatanga.
This position will commence in term 1, 2022.
