Early learning / kōhanga reo, certificated kaiako / teacher if possible or someone keen to become qualified (work based study could be available to the right person).

Me ngākau ū ki te tautoko tamariki, kaiako me te kōhanga whānui, ki te mahi tahi, ki te reo Māori me ōna tikanga.  Ki te matatau koe ki te whakaaro nui o ngā pēpi me te painga atu.

We need a passionate, skilled kaiako who understands the role in an holistic manner where pēpi are able to explore the world, where we respond believing our tamariki deserve the very best and that kaiako are obligated to cause learning.

Our current kōhanga operates in Hamilton (licensed for 30) within school buildings but we are building a new purpose-built childcare centre which will open at the beginning of the new year.

This position is starting asap and can be flexible to accommodate the needs of the right person.

Qualified kaiako / teachers are crucial in our daily operations and are supported by our Pouako / head teacher and Kaiwhakahaere / centre manager.

The ideal person will be:

  • A qualified ECE teacher (keen to become provisionally or fully registered if not already)
  • A new graduate (beginning teacher / kaiako) desperate to implement what they have learnt
  • Competent in te reo Māori
  • Someone with a can-do attitude who believes in the importance of learning through play and educational opportunities that are planned for and delivered with the child at the centre of all learning.
