We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic session facilitator to join our well-resourced and vibrant Playcentre, to support out tamariki, parents and whānau in leading rewarding sessions.

You will work alongside our duty team to assist parents and caregivers on session to ensure sessions run smoothly, ensuring parents are supported in their role as kaiako and children’s needs are catered for, that their play learning and development is enhanced, as well as role modelling Playcentre Philosophy and current practices. You will help centre members understand the key components of excellent practice at Playcentre, and how each person can contribute to this. You will foster a whānau-led culture and support emergent leadership, by helping centre members gain knowledge and understanding, and increase confidence in members to take on running sessions themselves.

Available psition:
Richmond Playcentre, Invercargill
3 sessions per week – Monday, Tuesday & Friday 9am–12.30pm

10.5 hours per week, during school term time
Start date as soon as possible.

To meet licensing requirements, the ideal candidate will:

  • Hold a Playcentre Course 4 or higher or Level 4 Certificate in Early Childhood Education and Care, or an equivalent ECE qualification
  • Hold a current first aid certificate.

Desirable skills and experience will include:

  • A passion for working with children aged 0 - 6 years alongside parents and caregivers
  • Knowledge and understanding of the value of Playcentre and its philosophy
  • Knowledge and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and using Te Reo on session
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of how to apply Te Whāriki
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with all ages
  • An ability to support and empower parents, whānau and caregivers
  • Great time management
  • A willingness to upskill and meet new Playcentre qualification requirements as required.
