About the role:

St Cuthbert's College requires a teacher/dean to join our junior school. You will be required to assist the head of junior school in providing leadership that develops and implements high-quality teaching, pastoral care and learning in the junior school. 

Role purpose:

  • To uphold the College values “By Love Serve”.
  • To be responsible for providing high-quality teaching and learning to the students at junior school
  • Leading and implementing a key curriculum area across the junior school
  • Overseeing the provision of a culture of quality learning experiences to meet the learning needs of all students.

Key responsibilities:

  • Providing quality teaching and learning for a range of students with diverse learning needs
  • Ensuring students’ behaviour is in line with college values and culture
  • Keeping up to date with current pedagogy
  • Ensuring quality pastoral care of students
  • Supporting all teachers in developing the Junior school curriculum and making sure it is current.

To be successful in this role, you need to:

  • All applicants must hold a current New Zealand practising certificate and have the right to work in New Zealand. Familiarity with delivering the New Zealand Curriculum, NCEA and standards-based assessment is essential
  • Tertiary education in a related discipline.
  • Educational experience; cultural sensitivity
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with a wide variety of audiences
  • Excellent planning, organisational, prioritisation and forward planning skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and building effective relationships with team members, internal teams, and parents to gain their trust and respect.

What we are looking for:

  • Experienced junior school teacher, ideally with leadership experience;
  • Teachers registration with the Education Council;
  • New Zealand Working Rights.
