Te Tai Raki Whangarei Kahui Ako are searching for someone who is up for an exciting challenge! Are you good at building meaningful relationships with the community and working with agencies to support student learning? If you are a fully registered teacher who is capable of supporting all children who require additional learning needs (including gifted & talented) to enable them to access the services they need to progress, then this is for you! 

Te Tai Raki Whangarei Kahui Ako is seeking a New Zealand registered teacher who will take on the role of learning support coordinator (LSC) based at Kamo High School. The successful applicant will have a proven record as a quality classroom practitioner, or educationalist, with the ability to engage effectively with staff, students, whānau and various agencies. The role will start as soon as possible.

Applicants will have the ability to:

  • Work collaboratively with the Director of Learning Support and wider learner support team to enhance provision for students and teachers
  • Contribute to quality data collection and ongoing monitoring processes for students with learning support needs, including gifted and talented and ESOL students
  • Ensure that staff have access to information regarding students requiring support in a timely manner and are provided with strategies to use within the classroom
  • Assist with the development of appropriate programmes, as required to support the individual needs of students within classrooms 
  • Contribute to leading PLD for staff on all aspects of inclusive practice
  • Liaise and work with other LSCs across the cluster, and connect with the learning support facilitator and wider agencies
  • Proactively contribute to ensuring quality transitions into the school 
  • Lead small group and individual interventions as required

This role is mainly based at Kamo High School but does allow scope for work as needs arise with our satellite kura on site as well.
