We are seeking an innovative teacher with a flexible growth mindset who is passionate about teaching to join our Y7–8 Ako team and to teach within our junior Connected Learning Modules for terms 3–4 this year. This position may suit an experienced primary-trained teacher or a secondary-trained teacher with experience teaching at intermediate level. A commitment to providing rich authentic learning contexts in an integrated way across curriculum areas is essential, as is the ability to develop and create flexible and responsive assessment practices for students.

We are an innovative and forward-thinking, decile 8 coeducational Y7–13 school located in Leeston, approximately 30 minutes south of Christchurch. With a school redevelopment in progress, this is an exciting time to join a progressive school and be a part of leading and designing change in New Zealand education.

We are continually developing and implementing a pedagogical approach which provides contextualised and coherent opportunities for deep, culturally sustaining learning whilst providing learners choice and agency to develop skills, knowledge and qualifications. We believe in the concept of ako and that we are all learners. Collaborative practice is fundamental to our integrated junior curriculum and, as educators, we know we can always learn from all other stakeholders.

Our school is community-focused and we encourage all staff to contribute to the varied learning opportunities that are offered to students in such an environment. We are a restorative practices school and believe strongly in building and enhancing positive professional relationships with young people. We expect all staff to play a positive role in nurturing the wellbeing of all our ākonga and we are an active member of the Ngā Mātāpuna Kāhui Ako which has a strong focus on well-being.
