Mt Richmond Special School Outreach Services is seeking an experienced teacher who has excellent interpersonal skills and is passionate about supporting students in the Ongoing Resourcing Scheme (ORS) in mainstream schools. The specialist outreach teacher works as part of the student’s support team, which includes their class teachers, MOE Special Education staff, support staff and family/whānau. 

The role may encompass a range of activities: 

  • Teaching, assessing, developing programmes
  • Monitoring progress and next steps
  • Modelling, supporting teachers and support staff
  • Contributing to IEPs, whānau meetings.

The successful candidate will have the following skills: 

  • Experience working 1:1 with special needs students with moderate to severe intellectual disabilities
  • Ability to establish collaborative relationships with Mt Richmond School as a whole, sharing ideas and innovative practice
  • Background in Reggio and child-centred teaching/learning would be beneficial.
