Kimi Ora School is a school for students with high/very high needs students aged 5-21.
Our base school is situated in Naenae and we have two satellite classes within the Taita/Woburn area as well as a satellite unit on the grounds of Evans Bay Intermediate.
We seek an enthusiastic Speech Language Therapist to join our team of Speech Language Therapists. We will offer the successful candidate ongoing support and professional development in all aspects of their role.
This role includes assessment, planning and implementation of programmes for students with diverse and complex communication needs. The therapist will work with pre-intentional communication, high and low tech alternative and augmentative communication systems, development of language and literacy, and spoken language. Assessment and management of dysphagia is also essential to this role. The transdisciplinary nature of the therapy team means working with students, whānau/families, and class and therapy teams.
The successful applicant will initially work at Kimi Ora’s base site in Naenae and our Lower Hutt satellite units but will need to have the flexibility to work at other sites in the future. Experience in working with students with special needs is desirable but not essential.
We encourage visits by interested applicants, which can be organised by phoning our Executive Officer, Anita English, ph (04) 567 5834.
