An exciting opportunity exists for a motivated educator to lead our high-functioning, well-respected school, boasting an excellent cohesive team, supportive Board, and engaged parent community. 

We have an exceptional team of talented staff who are committed and engaged and are justly proud of our school’s performance and the reputation it has maintained for many years in the Lower Hutt community. Established in 1938, our primary school is a decile 8, contributing primary for Y1–6, with a roll of over 500 children from diverse ethnic backgrounds.

Our consultation with staff, students, and community has told us we need a leader who:

  • Is forward-focused with experience in leading change and improving student outcomes to meet our vision
  • Is culturally responsive when engaging with all ethnicities embodied in our students, and exhibits knowledge of Tikanga Māori and a developing personal use of te reo Māori 
  • Has a collaborative approach to decision-making, fostering a team culture of strategic research-based thinking and planned implementation, while being responsible for delivery
  • Is a gifted communicator, highly visible and engaging as a leader, prepared to make the bold decisions when necessary, often described as a true professional who leads by example and will be a role model for the school community
  • Leads with moral purpose, building and sustaining high trust relationships through open and transparent distributed leadership
  • Ensures hauora (well-being) is a priority for staff and students, while encouraging and supporting success and achievement for all learners. Is able to manage conflict and solve problems effectively and calmly
  • Has experience of successfully working and communicating with a diverse community, including neuro diverse learners, in an empathetic and inclusive manner 
  • Values and empowers professional growth in their staff.

The position commences at the beginning of term 3, Monday 26 July or as soon as possible after this date (negotiable).
