“Together We Shape Our Future”

Are you ready to lead Onerahi Primary School? The Board is now looking to appoint a visionary leader to continue the successful evolution of one of Whangarei’s most respected primary schools. Established in 1893 within this thriving coastal community, Onerahi Primary School is a Decile 4, contributing primary for Years 1-6, with a roll of around 500 children from diverse ethnic backgrounds. This well-resourced school works closely with supportive whānau and has a fantastic team of talented, highly skilled teachers and support staff who are committed to ensuring all children benefit from the very best academic, sporting and cultural learning environment. The school’s vision, “Together We Shape Our Future”, underpins everything they do.

Our new principal will be:

  • Passionate about seeing children achieve their true potential and will create a school environment that inspires, challenges and supports their educational needs as part of a lifetime of learning
  • A professional team leader with sound business acumen, an appetite for continuing professional development, deeply committed to and knowledgeable about the New Zealand Curriculum and successful in building a strong leadership team that can deliver the highest standards of quality education
  • Visible and proactively engaged with students, staff, whānau and the wider Onerahi community. A gifted communicator, you will be prepared to make bold decisions when necessary, naturally curious to explore new teaching practices and will lead by example as an inspiration and role model for this deserving school community
  • Committed to and further develop Onerahi School’s kaupapa of tikanga, te ao Māori, te reo Māori and whanaungatanga
  • Described by colleagues as consistent and fair, resilient, open-minded, collaborative, with a great sense of humour.
