We are a thriving, inclusive and ambitious Y7-13 school, only 45 minutes north of Auckland surrounded by beautiful beaches and native bush. We are seeking an experienced senior guidance counsellor who will take a lead role in building relationships with students to promote emotional and mental wellbeing, self-confidence and resilience. Management units may be available to a suitably experienced candidate. Applicants are expected to uphold the school’s commitment to a high academic standard and to contribute to its co-curricular programme.
The counsellor will work closely with the deputy principal and deans and be responsible for counselling students from Y7–Y13. Our counsellor should have secondary teaching experience and be registered with the New Zealand Association of Counsellors. They will also build and maintain networks with external agencies, work with teachers, groups of students, and work efficiently under pressure.
This position will commence at the start of term 3, 2021, or by arrangement.
Our ideal applicant will have a tertiary counselling degree, NZAC membership (or working towards membership) and experience working with adolescents. A commitment to bi-cultural practice is essential.
