Due to our current learning support coordinator moving into the tertiary space, we are seeking an experienced practitioner (either primary or secondary) to join our high-functioning Community of Learning in rural West Otago.
The role involves supporting students and teachers in each of our six centres, ranging from early childhood to senior secondary school, with a focus on those students who are experiencing barriers to learning but who, with extra support, are capable of making accelerated progress towards achieving at the expected level for their age groups. Therefore successful experience in the supported learning space is a pre-requisite for the position as is empathy and having a genuine passion for helping these students fulfil their potential. Excellent communication and organizational skills as well as initiative and the ability to access the necessary supports from outside agencies are essential for the position too.
Ideally we would be looking at a beginning of term 2 start.
