We are seeking a permanent, full-time leader of curriculum of the Teen Parent Unit (LOC) who is a transformational and courageous leader. Their leadership seeks to pursue and implement culturally responsive curriculum design, using technologies to realise the potential of teen parent learners.
The successful applicant needs to be passionate about the learning of a unique group of learners, mothers and young people, to be a leading voice and advocate for our young learner/mothers, so that they may achieve their learning aspirations in spite of the many barriers they face.
An essential aspect of the role is to ensure that our learners/mothers too, have a pro-active voice in determining their learning pathways, and to include their whānau.
Key attributes are –
Engaging interpersonal and open-minded leadership skills
Sound understanding of effective pedagogical leadership and practises
Has an authentic empathy, a respectful, warm and demanding care for a whānau based unit, while being able to competently work in varied educational contexts
Must have a current NZ teaching qualification.
