Te Aho o Te Kura Pounamu (Te Kura) is New Zealand’s largest state school. We provide personalised, future-focused learning programmes through distance education from early childhood level to NCEA Level 3, including to young adult and adult learners. 

Our vision is to enable our ākonga (students) to achieve their educational and personal goals, empowering them to become engaged and contributing members of their communities.

We have an exciting opportunity for a regional manager to join our Southern Region supporting our teams based in Te Wai Pounamu / the South Island. We have over 2400 primary and secondary ākonga spread across Te Wai Pounamu. The key focus of this role is on raising ākonga wellbeing, engagement, and achievement through collaborating, leading, supporting, facilitating and implementing national and regional innovations,

The successful candidate will be an educationalist at heart, with extensive leadership experience, exceptional communication skills and the proven ability to introduce, support and embrace change in ways that build organisational and team culture. Your professional practice will be underpinned by a strong personal and professional commitment to educational excellence for all, an optimism about the potential of all ākonga to succeed and a strong drive to get results.

You will have a functional understanding of te reo Māori and tikanga Māori and an established track record of lifting ākonga achievement especially Māori achievement in education. You will be well placed to further strengthen our Tiriti partnerships with the mana whenua of Te Waipounamu.

A teaching background and relevant education or teaching qualification is required as well as having experience in curriculum delivery and a current practicing certificate or able to qualify. Ideally, you will bring an indepth understanding of education across Y1–13 and recent experience of supporting a range of ākonga, including ākonga at-risk of not achieving.
