We are seeking a teacher-counsellor to work in a counselling role at our awesome school. This is a new position at our kura and is an exciting opportunity for a connected, positive, skilled professional to work with, and support, our wonderful students.
We are an Intermediate School, with 730 Y7–8 students. The Board of Trustees is committed to providing additional support for the students at our kura, as they navigate the challenges of emerging adolescence.
This role will include:
Helping students to explore their difficulties and concerns and to develop their capabilities and resilience
Fostering conditions in which a student can grow and develop as a young person
Offering leadership and sharing expertise in promoting positive relationships
Promoting awareness of and respect for differences
Encouraging students to pursue healthy relationships and safe ways of communicating.
This position will likely be a part-time position (2–3 days per week). Hours/days of work will be negotiated with the successful candidate.
