Healthy active learning facilitator - South Canterbury

Sport Canterbury is the Regional Sports Trust (RST) serving the Canterbury and West Coast region. Our Vision is ‘More People, More Active, More Often’ and everything we do is about getting and keeping people engaged in sport and physical activity.

As a healthy active learning facilitator in South Canterbury you will work closely with the South Canterbury WAVE team (Wellbeing and Vitality in Education) in partnership with the South Canterbury District Health Board. Healthy Active Learning is a joint initiative between Sport New Zealand and the Ministries of Health and Education seeking to improve child and youth wellbeing through healthy eating and quality physical activity.

Sport Canterbury is seeking a healthy active learning facilitator for South Canterbury with a track record of leading and empowering others, as well as energy and enthusiasm, to join our team.

Healthy active learning facilitators will work with Boards of Trustees, principals, senior leaders and teachers of primary and intermediate schools to provide advice and customised support. They will support school leaders and teachers to better plan and implement the health and physical education curriculum, identify and develop opportunities for quality physical activity experiences for tamariki (in school and in the community), and advise on how to establish healthy behaviours and environments through supporting the adoption and implementation of healthy food and water-only policies.

The candidate will need a full, clean driver’s license and must have the right to live and work in New Zealand.
