Educational psychologist or special education adviser

Two 1.0 FTE permanent positions based in the Kaitāia and Whangārei offices.

The Ministry of Education’s  Learning Support specialists work to help maximise learning outcomes and promote social inclusion.

As a psychologist/special education adviser you will play a critical role in our region's learning support team by:

• Identifying patterns or contributing factors that may be influencing learning, wellbeing and behaviour
• Enhancing inclusive practices in early learning services, schools and other educational settings
• Providing professional support and guidance to schools, teachers and families and building the capacity of those who are best placed to support the learning of children and young people
• Developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with a range of professional partners, community and sector groups and support agencies to ensure that services are coordinated and effective
• Working as part of a trans-disciplinary team where a child's needs are complex.

Educational psychologist:

• A Masters level tertiary qualification.
• A post-graduate Diploma in Educational Psychology or equivalent,
• Registration under the Health Practitioners Competency Assurance Act
• Hold a current practicing certificate

Special education adviser:

• A Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood) or Post-graduate Diploma in Special Education/Educational Psychology.
