We are seeking a passionate, positive and engaging registered teacher to join our learning community, on a full-time permanent basis, focused on developing a highly cultural and responsive field-based STEAM curriculum. Applicants will have experience in the delivery of Mahi Toi (Art) and Pūtaiao (Science) from a Mātauranga Māori perspective.
Applicants will need to evidence an ability to engage and connect with young Māori and Pasifika males and have the skills and mindset to facilitate all manner of learning with this cohort. The Academy engages and enriches young people in a culturally appropriate learning environment that emphasises Māori culture and values such as Manaakitanga and Mahi tahi. We develop lifelong learners who are confident in their Māori worldview. Learning at Te Aratika is provided through an English and Māori medium environment that acknowledges and celebrates Māori and Pacific heritage. Familiarity with the use of culturally appropriate contemporary research tools for the purposes of monitoring Hau Ora is preferred.
Strong te reo Māori and Tikanga Māori knowledge is essential.
We are a designated character school for male secondary students, from Y11–13. Located in beautiful Hawke's Bay, the Academy has a focus on providing a link between education and future employment through vocational pathways. The Academy operates small class sizes, and has a very supportive staff environment, including strong pastoral care support for students.
