We are a not-for-profit early learning service, operating four licensed ECE centres and a home-based service. This leadership position will involve working closely with the assistant team leader at Russell Street and the nursery team leader (next door centre, 0–2-year-olds) in a collaborative leadership model. 

 The successful applicant will demonstrate the  following attributes: 

  • Experience leading and managing a team in a collaborative, distributed leadership model 
  • Experience teaching 2–5-year-old children
  • Proven ability to uphold the Code of Professional Responsibility and Standards for the Teaching Profession
  • Knowledge of Early Childhood Education licensing and compliance requirements including health and safety standards
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring kaiako capabilities to support positive learning outcomes for all tamariki
  • Ability to support teachers to implement assessment, planning and evaluation for all tamariki which reflects current pedagogy and practice
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with evidence of having worked collaboratively with kaiako, whānau and external stakeholders 
  • Evidence of upholding the principles of Te Tiriti Waitangi 
  • Committed to ongoing professional learning that has a positive impact on children’s learning
  • Competent oral and written literacy skills 
  • Competent with IT, in particular, Google Suite (Google mail, docs, sheets etc)
  • High level of personal integrity, professionalism and transparency
  • Growth mindset and open to change 
  • Critical thinking and reflective practice.
