We have a great opportunity for a passionate, experienced teacher to join our Raureka Kindergarten team.

About us

The Heretaunga Kindergarten Association has 16 kindergartens located in Hastings, Flaxmere, Havelock North and Central Hawkes Bay. We are committed to:

  • Providing education and support programmes which respect the dignity, rights, abilities, individuality, cultural values and learning styles of tamariki and whānau
  • Providing advice, support and professional development to support ongoing growth of teaching practice
  • Honouring the principles and practices inherent in Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • Ensuring equitable practices.

At Raureka our team work hard to provide our tamariki and whānau with a homely environment where relationships and aroha come first and tamariki are free to explore, learn and make connections in a peaceful and natural environment. Our teaching team values current theory and practice and we require a teacher who can contribute to our professional dialogue.

In this role you will contribute to the successful educational outcomes for tamariki through inspiring and dynamic teaching.

To be the right person to join our team you need to:

  • Have a philosophy that fits with our team and kindergarten
  • Ideally be experienced in managing busy active learners (behaviour management)
  • Be energetic and passionate as we are a busy kindergarten
  • Be open minded and have a big heart as our community has diverse needs.

You also need to:

  • Be up to date with early childhood education theory and be able to demonstrate how you put this into practice
  • Have a working knowledge of Te Whāriki
  • Be committed to building strong, positive relationships within the wider community and outside agencies
  • Be confident in using technology and be able to competently use Microsoft Suite and Story Park
  • Be flexible and open to change
  • Be actively engaged in professional growth.

All applicants must hold a current practising certificate (full or provisional), first aid certificate and a recognised ECE or primary teaching qualification.
