We have an opportunity for an outstanding educator to join our 2 existing learning support coordinators (LSC) to work across the 7 schools of our Taita/Stokes Valley Kahui Ako (5 primary, 1 intermediate and 1 secondary school). Our vision is to be a strong, collaborative learning community which embraces our cultural diversity and maximises the opportunities for all family, whānau, students and teachers to meet their potential and enjoy success.
We are a united and collaborative Kāhui Ako working to create a clear pathway for our tamariki from primary to secondary school. We have a wide range of cultures with Māori and Pasifika the majority.
We aim for this permanent position to start in term 1, 2021 (negotiable). The successful applicant will be working with students, teachers, whānau and agencies to support student learning. Our LSC’s are currently based at Taita College and work in schools across the Taita/Stokes Valley Kāhui Ako
Key attributes for the role include:
The ability to form positive, relationships with students/whanau and staff across our 7 schools.
Demonstrating successful experience in working with students with learning support needs in the classroom.
The ability to form effective collaborative relationships within our LSC team, with SENCo’s and senior staff across our schools
A commitment to, and understanding of the learning support system and the learning support action plan priorities
The ability to engage at a school/kura and Kahui Ako leadership level working to enhance learning opportunities for identified students.
Working across primary and secondary schools and engage outside agencies
Understanding of te ao Māori
The ability to work in a way that is flexible and responsive to the needs of individual or collective schools.
A current teaching practising certificate and relevant teaching qualification.
