Reporting to the korikori–schools and kura manager, the successful candidate will be working as part of a skilled korikori team focused on helping youth (rangatahi) participate in quality active recreation and sport through the school setting. You will do this by influencing and supporting school and sport leaders, management and coaches by obtaining and sharing insights and data, combined with sector intelligence and first-hand experiences.
Working closely with other regional sport directors and College Sport Auckland, a key focus of the role will be overseeing the collection and provision of advice, resources and professional development to secondary schools and kura, and supporting identified secondary schools and kura with planning and implementing specific projects aimed at addressing key challenges. This may include facilitating partnerships between school and kura management and key active recreation and sport organisations to ensure quality physical activity experiences are being designed, delivered and accessed, particularly for those who are missing out. The position will also partner with the He Oranga Poutama team in regard to support for kura.
The role requires someone who will be:
Action orientated with a ‘can do attitude’
A thoughtful and experienced sport director with a proven capability in influencing changes in attitudes, behaviours and processes
Passionate for and have a strong understanding of youth sport, active recreation, and what quality experiences look like
Skilled in partnering, planning, networking and facilitation as evidenced through impact on the ground.
