With a role of approximately 620 students, we are a vibrant and successful coeducational secondary school in Levin, located an hour north of Wellington. The school’s inclusive school culture encourages students to participate and achieve in a range of leadership, sporting, arts and cultural activities within and outside the classroom.

Levin has a great central location! Located in the lower North Island (95km north of the capital city Wellington), Levin is a 5–10 minute drive to beaches, a lake and walking tracks in the Tararua Ranges – a great spot for those who love being outdoors.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen within our well-resourced Learning Support department which is housed in Te Whare Awhina, a purpose built facility opened in 2016. Under the leadership of SENCO Stephanie Greenslade the current team of 3 teachers, a learning support coordinator and over 20 teacher aides provides a range of services that cater for the needs of students with Ongoing Resourcing Scheme (ORS) funding as well as students who require support with a range of other learning or behavioural needs.

Due to an increase in the number of ORS funded students we are seeking a passionate, flexible and caring educator with expertise in the learning and behaviour needs of students. The successful applicant will be able to adapt the curriculum, plan individual programmes and work closely with the Head of Te Whare Awhina /SENCo and the LSCo to get the best outcomes for students with learning difficulties. They will have the ability to engage with our tamariki and whānau, and collaborate with our staff.

An appreciation for a Trauma Focussed Approach in planning supports for students and some understanding of students on the Ongoing Resourcing Scheme would be an advantage.

Position to commence at the start of term 1, 2021.
