We are seeking a passionate, experienced and empathetic person who wishes to make a positive contribution to the autism community as an Early Intervention Teacher, based in Auckland (Waitakere and West Auckland). This key position will work as part of a team in the Early Steps programme.

Part-time 20 hours per week (Monday to Friday).The successful applicant will have:

  • Bachelor or Diploma of Teaching
  • A registered teacher in New Zealand
  • Have attained or intend to be working towards a postgraduate diploma in specialist teaching (early intervention)
  • At least three years early childhood teaching experience
  • An in-depth knowledge of autism and related conditions. Including knowledge of the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Guidelines, and the ability to work within these principles
  • Ability to translate specialist knowledge into practical information that will assist in the development, provision and support of individual programmes in order to overcome barriers to learning
  • Ability to teach and empower those working with the child to ensure integrated effective management of the learner’s needs.
