We are seeking a passionate, experienced and empathetic person who wishes to make a positive contribution to the autism community as an Early Intervention Teacher, based in Auckland (Waitakere and West Auckland). This key position will work as part of a team in the Early Steps programme.
Part-time 20 hours per week (Monday to Friday).The successful applicant will have:
Bachelor or Diploma of Teaching
A registered teacher in New Zealand
Have attained or intend to be working towards a postgraduate diploma in specialist teaching (early intervention)
At least three years early childhood teaching experience
An in-depth knowledge of autism and related conditions. Including knowledge of the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Guidelines, and the ability to work within these principles
Ability to translate specialist knowledge into practical information that will assist in the development, provision and support of individual programmes in order to overcome barriers to learning
Ability to teach and empower those working with the child to ensure integrated effective management of the learner’s needs.
