A fantastic career opportunity in a unique, financially sound and well-resourced school within a relatively new modern learning classroom environment.

Our school, is located on SH1 in the central North Island serving a strong community of service-oriented military personnel, civilian workers and contractors, farm service and support businesses and a farm-based workforce who are all fully involved in the life of the school.

Waiouru is close to Mt Ruapehu and the great Lake Taupo so if you are active and into tramping, hunting, mountain-biking, skiing, boating, fishing and the great outdoors of Aotearoa – it’s all right here on our door-step.

We have a strong child-centred pedagogy, clear PB4L process and practice, an established play-based learning approach for juniors and a more structured programme developing for our senior students going forward.

Our previous motto ‘Ko Te Mana Te Mea – Honour Above All and our current motto ‘Ekea tō tāpuhipuhi – Climb to the highest peak, strive for success’ both sum us up well. We also enjoy a special relationship with the National Army Marae and the marae is our home for many of our special occasions.

We seek an innovative teacher and pedagogical leader with great interpersonal skills, positive dispositions and sound curriculum knowledge to lead our dedicated team of support and teaching staff. You will be community-minded, culturally responsive, adaptable, resilient, willing to embrace change and have high expectations of yourself and of our students and staff.

This position would equally suit an AP/DP looking for their first-time principal career move as well as existing U1–U2 principals looking for career progression as well as a period of consolidation.

Job starts term 2, Monday 2 May, 2021.
