We are the nationwide provider of education services for deaf and hard of hearing (DHH) children. We have a large team of specialist staff across New Zealand with specialist school provisions in Auckland and Christchurch. We are seeking to appoint a positive and enthusiastic, fully registered teacher or qualified teacher of the deaf with previous successful NZ Curriculum mainstream teaching experience and strong communication skills. You will need to have skills in or demonstrate a willingness to develop proficiency in New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL) and listening and spoken language practices for deaf children. This position will be required to travel to mainstream schools in greater Auckland region, so a valid and current driver's licence is essential.
Requirements for this position:
Must reside within easy access to the Auckland Central area and be willing to travel within a designated caseload
Previous competent teaching of mainstream children and/or experience of working with deaf children would be of benefit
Competency in NZSL, and knowledge of current inclusive practices for diverse DHH learners an advantage but not essential as we can bring you into this world and help you connect and learn
Current drivers' licence and full NZ teacher registration essential
Lease vehicle or use of own car to be determined by expected weekly mileage
Willingness to take on professional development if not already a qualified teacher of the deaf and we will assist you through this process.
