School counsellor

• Albany location with park-like grounds.

Role

We are seeking an experienced counsellor to job share with one of our full-time counsellors for 1 or 2 days per week. You would be responsible for counselling students from junior to senior school, including building relationships with the students to help promote emotional and mental wellbeing, self-confidence, and resilience. You will also be responsible for assisting with traumatic incidents or events which may require work after hours. Reporting to our newly appointed director of wellbeing, you will work closely with our school nurses, service-learning coordinator, attendance administrator and Chaplain to provide a holistic, supportive environment for our students.

The hours are 8am–4.30pm, term time only, 38 weeks, with school holidays off.

Experience needed:

Our ideal applicant will have a tertiary counselling degree, NZAC membership and experience working with young children and adolescents. A teaching qualification and experience in a NZ school would be advantage however is not essential.

• Highly collaborative for working in a team
• Professionalism judgement and confidentiality
• Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Docs.
