Our school is a leading independent school situated in Hamilton that has a commitment to providing education of the highest quality for its students. With a roll of approximately 780 students, of whom almost half are boarders, the school also operates an outdoor experience for its Y10 students for six months at its Tihoi Venture campus on the western side of Lake Taupo.

We seek a passionate, enthusiastic, and committed person to join our school in the role of director of teaching and learning.

Acting as a professional role model, the director of teaching and learning will mentor and coach our teachers and facilitate their professional learning needs, playing a significant role in achieving improved educational outcomes for our students. Reporting to the deputy headmaster–academic and an integral part of the senior leadership group, this role is also accountable for the development and implementation of school educational policies, programmes and practices and will be involved in the design and development of curriculum to adapt to the upcoming changes in NCEA.

Our ideal candidate will be a fully registered (EDUCANZ) and successful teacher who has knowledge of current best practice standards for the classroom. They will need significant experience in national assessment and current knowledge of the EDUCANZ registration processes and requirements. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required, along with IT/digital skills that support quality, learning and assessment practices.

This is an exciting educational leadership opportunity, which is permanent, full-time starting term 1, 2021.
