Due to one of our kaiako being successful in a leadership role, we have an exciting opportunity for a kaiako to join our team.

About us:

We are part of Central Kids Early Education, which operates 57 other kindergartens and centres across the central North Island.

Central Kids provide access to high-quality professional development opportunities and ongoing professional support to maintain quality teaching practice.

We are party to the Kindergarten Teachers' Collective Agreement, which provides 6 weeks' annual leave, 9 days' sick leave and ample non-contact/professional time.

For over 50 years this kindergarten has been providing quality early childhood education and care for children and their families in Whakatāne.

Our team are passionate registered teachers who promote respectful and genuine partnerships with whānau/families and the wider community. Our key teacher practice ensures a safe and secure transition for each child through a strong, warm and supportive relationship.

Each child experiences an environment that stimulates children’s engagement and learning. Our expansive indoor and outdoor spaces allow children to learn through play and explore at their own pace. We celebrate each child for who they are and what they bring to the learning environment. We are rich in oral language and literacy and believe that every child can grow into a confident and competent lifelong learner.

  • Motivated, enthusiastic, able to put current theory into practice
  • Able to demonstrate a working knowledge of Te Whāriki
  • Able to have robust conversations and work with a team who have a strong emphasis on whakawhanaungatanga as they support each child's social and emotional growth
