Our Dunedin campus in sunny Allanton, a 15 minute drive from the city with a relatively small number of students on site, is seeking an experienced learning support teacher with strong interpersonal skills on a part-time (0.6 FTE), fixed-term basis until December 2021. The campus enjoys a collaborative and positive culture, and the staff work together to create a supportive team.
The role will involve working alongside a Y8 student (male) with behavioural needs. While not essential, RTLB experience or previous experience working with students with challenging behaviour is desirable.
Key experience and skills
An understanding of how to support learners with additional needs, including those with behaviour challenges
An understanding of the New Zealand Curriculum
An understanding of different learning methods and teaching styles
Ability to cater for students’ varying needs
Excellent relationship building and communication skills
