Our kaiako are cohesive, dynamic, passionate professionals who value a strong sense of belonging... come join the team!

  • Big on sustainability, we are on a journey to becoming an award-winning Enviroschool
  • Conveniently located in the heart of Hokitika’s residential area, close to local schools
  • Cool outdoor playground that reflects our West Coast environment, including a native forest that the children have been building and planting

  • PLD.

The West Coast is an untamed natural wilderness of rivers, rainforests and galciers. Amongst this wilderness nestled between the Tasman sea and the Southern Alps you will find Hokitika Active Explorers.

Here we have a strong commitment to developing a forever changing localised curriculum that supports our children to learn in our unique area. We have access to whitebait and learn all about life cycles, and provide some of the local community with food scraps to feed their chickens.

We are a fun team that have a passion for the outdoors and our environment reflects this. We are open to new ideas and encourage collaboration amongst the team. Our learning environment thrives off shared leadership where you are supported and encouraged to grow your practice.
To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • An NZ recognised ECE teacher qualification and hold current ECE certification
  • Ability to teach children in a positive, nurturing way
  • Must be passionate, caring, and committed to education
  • Knowledge of ECE regulations, policies and procedures.
