We are a junior secondary (Y7–10) school of 1,350+ students in the northern most suburbs of Hamilton.

Thank you for showing an interest in teaching and leading at our junior high school.

We have a full-time, permanent position in this key leadership role from the the start of 2021.The vacancy is due to the promotion of one of our existing learning and Iwi leaders. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to join a team of 2 other leaders in similar positions within our school!

We provide a unique, challenging and enjoyable environment to teach in. We place significant emphasis on working and learning collaboratively and believe as a leadership team we offer our staff the opportunity to contribute actively to the direction of the school and importantly to realise their own potential as an educator.

A critical consideration for all applicants is the expectation that all teachers will be willing to teach in collaborative teams within an integrated approach at all levels of the school (Y7–10). Our staff understand how challenging this can be and we are all exceptionally supportive of encouraging successful applicants to adapt their practice. If you are an amazing teacher in your current environment, you will continue to be amazing at RJHS!

This role is comparable to the role of an assistant principal with key responsibilities including the development and delivery of our learning advisory programme. The successful applicant with work with 2 other leaders who hold similar roles. The leadership of an Iwi (group of around 400 students and 20 staff) is another critical responsibility within this role and includes mentoring and coaching staff in their role as Hapū leaders and learning advisors, providing student leadership opportunities and pastoral leadership.
