This purpose-built facility is located within the grounds and is part of Waiopehu College. We are a vibrant and successful coeducational secondary school in Levin, located an hour north of Wellington. The school’s inclusive school culture encourages students to participate and achieve in a range of leadership, sporting, arts and cultural activities within and outside the classroom. He Whare Manaaki Tangata encompasses our teen parent unit known as Poipoia and the early childhood centre, Arohanui, which is run by Whanau Manaaki Kindergarten. Poipoia has a maximum of 35 enrolment places and resourcing for 3.5 FTTE teaching staff.

Levin has a great central location! Located in the lower North Island (95km north of the capital city Wellington), Levin is a 5–10 minute drive to beaches, a lake and walking tracks in the Tararua Ranges – a great spot for those who love being outdoors. Levin has a population of 20,000 (with high growth predicted over the next 10 years) and has all the amenities you could ever need. The neighbouring Kapiti Coast is also a favourite destination for many with its beaches, cafes and attractive lifestyle options.

Due to the incumbent retiring at the end of 2020, a fantastic opportunity has arisen within Poipoia for a teacher in charge. This position reports to the Principal, Waiopehu College.

We are seeking an innovative, passionate and highly creative registered teacher with a wide experience in secondary teaching. An understanding of and an empathy with the requirements of non-mainstream students would be an advantage. Position to commence at the start of term 1, 2021.
