We are looking for a compassionate and caring school psychologist/counsellor to join our pastoral care team. This position will take a lead role in the school's pastoral care network, working closely with the Director of Wellbeing and positive education. They will report to the deputy principal, who oversees all aspects of pastoral care. This significant role balances the ongoing development of wellbeing and positive education initiatives with providing a high-quality counselling service for students and their families, and training sessions for teachers and house staff as required.

The ideal candidate should have school-based counselling experience, be passionate about the health and wellbeing of young people and understand the particular needs of boys living in a residential community. They must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to relate to many different people from diverse cultural backgrounds, a positive and friendly 'can-do' attitude, and a professional approach at all times.

The applicant must have specialist qualifications in counselling and be a current member of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors.

This is a part-time (0.6FTE), fixed-term position to commence on 29 January 2021 to cover parental leave. The term expires on 24 September 2021, or could be extended for a full school year until 3 December 2021 by negotiation with the right candidate.
