We have an exciting opportunity for a registered kaiako to join our community whānau on a fixed-term contract to cover parent leave.

Our centre is a non-profit parent and teacher co-operative in Thorndon. Our environment is warm, caring, and creates a home away from home. We have the pleasure of welcoming 29 tamariki per day from 6 months to 6 years and are looking for a new team member to join us from approximately from October 2020 to May 2021. Flexible start date available.

Our ideal candidate must have a commitment to life long learning, have an approachable "can-do" attitude, possesses strong interpersonal communication and relationship building skills, and is reliable and enthusiastic.

Our ideal candidate requires the following criteria:

  • A Bachelor of Teaching (ECE) or Dip Tch Level 7 (ECE) or equivalent
  • Holds current teacher certification
  • U2 experience desirable
  • Able to demonstrate current knowledge of curriculum (Te Whāriki), pedagogy and assessment
  • An understanding of RIE® philosophy
  • Demonstrates enthusiasm for tamariki learning
  • Contributes to the development of a reflective professional culture
  • Has knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
